When to contact us

This page is for you if mould is already visible on a wall, ceiling or bathroom in Barcelona and you want to know what to do with the surface. Common cases:

  • dark marks or blackening on a wall
  • mould on a bathroom ceiling, above the shower or in corners
  • paint that has bubbled or peeled next to a mark
  • a mark that came back after cleaning or painting
  • a cold corner, a wall behind furniture or near a window

You do not need to know in advance whether it is mould, condensation or damp. Two or three photos are usually enough to see where to start.

Send 3 photos on WhatsApp

The most useful things are:

  1. A wide shot of the room — light, ceiling, furniture nearby.
  2. A close-up of the mark — no flash, in focus.
  3. A few words — when it appeared, and whether you have cleaned or painted it.

That is usually enough to say whether mould removal fits, whether the wall needs repair first, or whether another option makes more sense. If the photos are unclear, we will say so. It is better to clarify than to over-promise.

How the work usually goes

We start with what is visible on the surface. After that it may involve:

  • treating mould on a wall, ceiling or in a bathroom
  • repair if paint has peeled or the surface is damaged
  • preparation and painting when the base is ready

Not every case goes through all three steps. A small mark on sound paint is one thing. A bathroom ceiling that has darkened and is shedding paint is another. We suggest work that matches the real condition — not more, not less.

What the visible mark can and cannot tell us

We do not identify a mould species from colour or from a photograph. What we can assess is the practical condition of the visible surface: whether the mark sits on firm paint, whether the paint is lifting, whether the same patch has returned, and whether the room context suggests that surface work should wait.

What you noticeWhat it may mean for the workWhat it does not prove
Small spots on firm painted plasterTreatment and a prepared finish may be possibleThe exact moisture source
Blistered, soft or flaking paintThe support may need preparation before any finishThat a leak has definitely caused it
A mark behind a wardrobe or bedThe wall and air pocket need looking at, not only the furnitureThat the whole room has the same problem
A ceiling ring that is growing or drippingSurface treatment should wait for the active causeWhich pipe, terrace or building element is responsible
A low crumbling or salty-looking band on masonryThe issue may be outside this surface serviceA diagnosis from a single image

That distinction protects the customer journey. We can remove visible mould and restore a prepared interior surface; we do not do plumbing, leak tracing, roofing, external waterproofing, capillary-damp injection, mechanical ventilation installation, insurance handling or legal reports. If the cause is still active, the honest recommendation is to deal with it before asking paint to solve it.

Walls, ceilings and bathrooms need different questions

On a painted wall, the useful question is whether the paint and plaster are still firm. On a ceiling, we also ask whether the mark changes after rain, showers or activity in the flat above. In a bathroom, the position matters: a ceiling over the shower, a painted strip above tile and a blackened silicone joint do not have the same preparation or trade boundary.

For a bathroom-specific route, use bathroom mould removal. If the visible damage is mainly an opened wall surface, damp wall repair is more precise. If only the final finish remains after the surface is ready, anti-mould painting explains why that is the last step rather than the first.

A useful first message from a tenant, owner or manager

Send a wide room photo, a close photo of the damaged edge, and a short timeline: when you first saw it, whether it has returned after cleaning or repainting, and what is on the other side of that wall or ceiling. A tenant can add whether the landlord or administrator has already been told; an owner of a second home can add how long the property was closed. Those details do not decide liability, but they help avoid proposing a surface treatment before the case is ready.

NoMoho is based in Barcelona. We can discuss metropolitan and coastal visits after photos, including the Maresme route towards Blanes and Lloret de Mar, but do not claim offices in those places. Write in English on WhatsApp and we will say clearly what photos support, what they do not, and what sensible next step fits.

WhatsApp and a visit in Barcelona

We look at photos first — free, no obligation. You can write in English. Send the room view, a close-up and the short timeline so we can say honestly whether the visible surface is ready for a treatment conversation.

If the photos show a visit is needed, a look in Barcelona is free. On site it is easier to judge peeling paint, recurring marks or an awkward ceiling before anything is covered over.

What not to do yet

Painting straight over a dark mark usually hides the problem for a while and can damage the base. Home remedies used without thinking it through can ruin paint. If you have already tried something — that is fine: mention it in your first message so we understand the wall’s condition.

What we do not promise

We do not promise mould will never return. We do not name species, talk about toxicity, quote product brands or give a price without seeing the case. If a photo does not show what you are asking about, we will say so plainly.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Short answers. Question not listed — write on WhatsApp in English.

Can I write in English?

Yes. We read and reply in English on WhatsApp — helpful if that is easier than Spanish.

What should I send in the first message?

A wide shot of the room, a close-up of the mark without flash, and a few words: when it appeared and whether you have cleaned or painted it. That is usually enough.

Does it cost anything to look at photos?

No — free and without obligation. A visit in Barcelona is also free when it is needed. We discuss the price after we can see the surface.

How quickly do you reply?

Usually quickly. If we are on a job, it may take up to 2–3 hours. A person replies, not a bot.

Can you guarantee the mould will not come back?

No. Ventilation and how the room is used matter a lot. We treat the mark and prepare the surface so the result lasts longer — but we cannot promise forever.

Can you tell me exactly what it is from a photo?

We work on the wall, ceiling or bathroom — we do not name mould species, make health claims or give medical advice. Breathing concerns belong with a doctor.
