When to call a mould specialist in Barcelona
Not every dark mark needs the same response. This page helps you tell a one-off spot from a case worth reviewing with photos before you clean or paint again.

When to contact us
You can write in English — we reply in English. We usually reply quickly. If we are on a job, it may take up to 2–3 hours.
When it makes sense to ask for help
People often reach this question after cleaning a mark, painting a corner or searching for a quick fix online. Sometimes that is enough. Other times the mark returns, paint lifts, or the case sits in a bathroom, ceiling or cold corner where domestic cleaning does not hold.
This page does not replace an assessment. It helps you decide what you can do yourself, what is worth showing in photos, and when to speak with someone who works on interior surfaces in Barcelona.
A small mark vs mould that comes back
A one-off spot on sound paint, with no history of return, may respond to careful cleaning and better ventilation. The picture changes when:
- the mark reappears in the same place after cleaning
- paint bubbles, peels or feels soft
- there are several zones in the same room
- you painted before and the problem returned
If the second list fits, it is worth stopping the repeat cycle and sending photos on WhatsApp.
Bathroom, wall and ceiling are not the same
In a bathroom, steam, joints and the ceiling above the shower explain many cases. A small mark is not the same as dark silicone, lifted paint or several points at once.
On a wall, it matters whether the zone is cold, behind furniture, by a window or on a party wall. That shapes the message — it does not close a diagnosis.
On a ceiling, access, height and finish condition change scope. A photo from below already shows whether you are looking at a local mark or a tired surface.
When photos are enough
For a first look we usually need:
- a wide shot of the room
- a close-up of the affected zone
- a short note: where it is, when you noticed it, and whether you cleaned or painted
The first photo review is free. See contact to write in English.
When a visit in Barcelona fits
A free visit makes sense when, after photos and context, we need to see the surface in person: extent of damage, support condition, ceiling access or several related zones. It does not replace plumbing, roofing or structural work.
We do not promise to name the exact cause of every damp issue from one photo. We can say whether the case fits mould removal or damp wall repair.
What we can and cannot tell remotely
Usually clear from photos and context:
- whether the surface looks stable or damaged
- whether the case points to treatment, preparation or painting
- what information is missing for a sensible next step
Not in scope:
- naming mould species
- medical or toxicology claims
- promising mould will never return
- assuming leaks, roofing or structural repairs
If children, allergic people or anyone with breathing sensitivity lives at home, it is reasonable to pay closer attention to the zone — without turning every mark into an alarm or replacing medical advice.
Suggested next step
If you are unsure between more cleaning and asking for help, send photos via WhatsApp. If the mark on the wall is already worrying you, see mould on walls or bathroom mould.
If the mark keeps returning after you clean, read mould keeps coming back after cleaning.
